Statement of Faith for Northern Village Ministries

·         We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred physical death, and spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, thus being sinners in thought, word and deed.

Our Positional Practices

1.            We hold the position that undo emphasis must not be given to what some might practice as the demonstrative gifts, claiming that these gifts are evidences of a superior spirituality.  Spirituality is not measured by the possession of gifts as Paul admonished the Christians in Corinth, but the true measure of spirituality is seen in the Christ-like character of 1 Cor. 13 and Gal. 5:22-26.

2.            As a result of this position, and considering the interdenominational nature of the Native Village Ministry, we support the scriptural injunction of doing things decently and in order, and we ask that all the team members and volunteers honor this stand while working as a team member.  (1Cor. 14:33, 40, 1 Cor. 12:30,31)

 Demonstrative Gifts Include

            a.  Speaking in tongues as the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit

            b.  Baptism of the Spirit as a second blessing

            c. Being slain in the Spirit

            d. Undue emphasis on healing

            e. Other evidences in the category of signs and wonders

 3.       We further agree that the Holy Spirit continually indwells the believer from the moment of spiritual birth and seals the believer until the day of redemption.  His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believer’s life by faith. (1 Cor. 12:13, Eph 4:30, Eph 5:18)
