Berean Church - Acts 17:11                       Who We Are
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

Our Name

Names are easily misunderstood.  They are intended to identify and give assurance.  Berea was a city that Paul visited on his second missionary journey.  The name was selected because it connotes that which is Bible centered.  The programs and ministries of our church are built around the Word of God.  We believe it is the Church's calling to represent God to man through the teachings of the Scriptures.  Therefore, from the pulpit down through every ministry of the church, our goal is to meet the needs of the entire family through teaching that is practical and true to the Word of God

What We Believe

We believe the Bible to be inspired, authoritative and the inerrant Word of God in the original manuscripts.  Therefore, it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutionary death on the cross for our sins, His resurrection and look forward to His return.

We believe that all persons are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore condemned by God (eternal separation from God forever in hell).

We believe God in His love and grace has provided a complete and free salvation for all who call upon Him through his Son, Jesus Christ.

We believe that all who are born of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ, have assurance of salvation, and are eternally secure in Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, and regenerates, indwells, baptizes, and seals all believers in Christ, and enables them to live the holy life that God desires for his children.

Our Ministry Objectives

Worship - that is meaningful and that expresses the reality of the living God.

Fellowship - that leads to the building of warm, caring, and supportive relationships.

Outreach - that is imaginative, sensitive, and compassionate.

Discipleship - that develops believers in Christ likeness.

Service - that focuses on the development and use of spiritual gifts in relationship to the body of Christ.

Church History
The Berean Fellowship dates to 1932 when some Christians in North Platte, NE began meeting together. Four years later they called a pastor by the name of Dr. Ivan Olsen, a native of northern Michigan. Having recently completed his studies at Denver Bible Institute, he enthusiastically began serving the Lord at North Platte. In towns near North Platte, people who were yearning for Bible-based ministries in their own communities began contacting Dr. Olsen to start Bible studies. Soon, groups were meeting in several towns and eventually by 1947 a Fellowship of Churches was born. Today there are numerous Berean churches around the world dedicated to planting churches, making disciples and reaching the world for Jesus Christ.

The Church Body
The Church refers to the body of believers, not a building. The building is just a place where the church meets to worship, study God's Word, and encourage one another.  This local body is a part of all true believers around the world.
